HOW THE FELLOWSHIP WORKS

The

GW x Penn West Global

Build Fellowship is a cap-exempt H-1B visa solution for foreign national startup founders who work part-time for 5 hours per week, supporting GW and our partner universities’ educational missions.

After a 6-8 week onboarding, Fellows work part-time (5 hours/week) in the Build Fellowship offering micro-internships to GW students, or in some cases 1x1 mentorship and can work on their own startups the rest of the time.

Build Fellowship provides U.S. higher education institutions with access to the brightest minds from across the globe. Students at GW and other partner universities are offered world-class subject matter training and expertise through Build Projects that provide work experience to students, 1-on-1 domain-specific Build Sessions, and educational materials meant to make the Fellow’s expertise more accessible.

As a Global Build Fellow, you will become a part of The Golden Triangle neighborhood, a vibrant and diverse community strategically located in Washington D.C. This central neighborhood grants unparalleled access to a wide array of resources, including a highly skilled workforce, a comprehensive transit network for local and international travel, and a plethora of amenities spanning arts, culture, dining, and entertainment.

Fellows will be offered special rates for workspaces at Studio by Tishman Speyer for the length of the program.
